Our values
Corporate social responsibility is a cornerstone of our business and UES Energy believes in leading by example.
We aim to use responsible practices in all our day-to-day operations. These include:
- Investing time, skills and resources in the different communities in which we operate, to make a positive impact
- Implementing responsible employment practices which benefit both business and society
- Making sustainable use of natural resources and helping tackle climate change by implementing environmentally sustainable business practices throughout our operations
- Ensuring social and environmental issues are accounted for in our business model, promoting responsible business practices in our dealings with others and taking positive action to address key issues.
UES is an active member of Business In The Community (BITC), a nationwide organisation which helps foster responsible business practices. We contribute to BITC projects and forums and are proud to have won major recognition through the BITC’s awards. Andrew Padmore, founder and Director of UES, became a board member of BITC Wales in 2010.
Since 2008, our staff have been delighted to take part in the Give and Gain Day organised by BITC in which businesses enable their staff to volunteer for a day’s work on a local community project. To learn about our 2011 Give and Gain Day project click here.
Demonstrating our commitment to our local business community, UES managing director Andrew Diplock is chair of Caerphilly Business Forum. Andrew also regularly volunteers with local schools to help young people gain valuable business skills and prepare for further education and working life.
UES has also signed up to the Welsh Assembly Government’s Sustainable Development Charter which aims to make sustainable development the central organising principle of businesses and other organisations. In addition to this Charter, we are also active members of the Prince’s Mayday Network, the UK’s biggest business-led movement to collectively tackle climate change.
